FAQs

What are Custom Homes?

Custom homes are homes that are customized to your specific needs and desires, without limiting you to any one standard. You are able to design and change anything that is needed, to achieve your dream custom home.

Do Custom Homes Cost More?

The saying I always use is, how much is a bag of groceries? It depends on what is in the bag. The same can be said for custom homes. The best practice is to meet with a trusted custom home builder and discuss your wants and needs. The more that’s in the home could raise the price. A professional to guide you through the process is the best way to answer this question.

What makes custom homes different from tract homes?

Tract homes are limited on floor plans and options. You can only select a limited number of colors and designs. Custom homes allow any number of changes, designs, and amenities.

If we found a plan, can we make changes to it?

Yes. A lot of Buyers like a certain plan but want to maybe make a bedroom larger, take out the dining, and maybe make a larger master closet. All can be accomplished.

What are your build times to completion?

Here again, this depends on many factors - the size of the home, location, and buyer’s availability.  Most homes average 7 to 12 months from foundation to move in.

How has COVID affected housing?

It has been a challenging last few years.  There are shortages of materials, supplies, and labor.  Because of this, we have had to be overly proactive in scheduling.

How soon can we start?

Usually from the time we have our initial meeting with you to start of your house is 3 to 4 months.

Who handles the construction and daily supervision?

The owners of the David Adams Custom Homes personally visit each job 3-5 times a week. We are involved in every step to ensure your home is the quality and design you expect.

How many houses do you do a year?

We are a small Texas homebuilder, and that is by design.  ‘Quality instead of quantity’ serves our mission statement.  Currently, we are completing 10 to 12 homes a year.
